Do not pre-soak, lick, or otherwise wet the tablet before placing it in your mouth, since it may make it harder to swallow the tablet. If your dose is for more than one tablet, you should take one tablet at a time. Take each tablet with enough water to make sure you completely swallow it right after placing it in your mouth.

Do not crush or chew extended-release tablets. Doing so can release all of the drug at once, increasing the risk of side effects. Also, do not split the tablets unless they have a score line and your doctor or pharmacist tells you to do so. Swallow the whole or split tablet without crushing or chewing.

You may take this drug with or without food. If you have nausea, it may help to take this drug with food. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about other ways to decrease nausea (such as lying down for 1 to 2 hours with as little head movement as possible).

This medication may cause withdrawal reactions, especially if it has been used regularly for a long time or in high doses.
